Vogue Retrospective – China White + Sasha Pivovarova

Vogue has a long-standing reputation of featuring infamous supermodels and iconic photo spreads. As an obsessor of all things fashion, it’s no surprise that I myself have a number of favorite supermodels and photo spreads.

Sasha Pivovarova has been one of my all-time favorite supermodels since her 1970’s spread with Dhani Harrison in 2008 (click here to see the amazing shoot). She has stunning features, a killer runway walk, and can pose as if her life depended on it.

It’s only natural that my favorite supermodel would be featured in one of my favorite Vogue spreads. Shot by Tim Walker for March 2010’s Vogue UK, Sasha portrays a powder white porcelain doll. Sporting a fairly melancholy face throughout the shoot, Sasha took me to another world…
….to a world where lonely dolls come to life and roam their shelves….
….a world where ballerinas hop off of their pedestals in search of their prince….
¬† ….and to a world where plush clown dolls sit and wait for a passerby to entertain.
